The Ex-Blue Jays Report

You can take the player out of the Blue Jays, but you can never take the Ex-Blue Jay out of the player!

Report for Week Ending Sun, April 5

I am Mister Ex, your chronicler of the former Toronto Blue Jays. Teoscar Hernández dazzled the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 2‑for‑4 line, an infield single that sparked a rally, a clutch double, and capped the night with his first home run of the season in the ninth inning. Danny Jansen, now with the Texas Rangers, delivered a 3‑for‑4 night highlighted by a three‑run blast that helped his club defeat Baltimore. Marcus Semien of the New York Mets added his first homer as a Met and followed it with an RBI double, while Matt Chapman of the San Francisco Giants contributed a solo shot against San Diego. Bo Bichette, fresh from a three‑year, $126 million pact with the Mets, produced a go‑ahead single in St. Louis but struggled overall, going 1‑for‑14 with eight strikeouts in his early Mets starts.

Otto Lopez has been the most potent bat among ex‑Jays this season, posting a .920 OPS, with Teoscar Hernández and Joey Loperfido also posting impressive .850‑plus OPS numbers. On the mound, Jordan Romano and Tim Mayza have kept spotless 0.00 ERAs over multiple innings, making them the premier former Jays on the hill.

Nate Pearson, who inked a deal with the Houston Astros, began a 15‑pitch live batting‑practice session after elbow surgery, hinting at a future bullpen role, while Bo Bichette’s high‑profile signing with the Mets has already drawn both cheers and boos as he adjusts to third base.

Next week the Blue Jays will host the Los Angeles Dodgers, where they may face former teammate Teoscar Hernández (and fellow ex‑Jay Santiago Espinal), and then they will welcome the Minnesota Twins, with former Jay Anthony Banda slated to appear for Minnesota.
