Report for Week Ending Sun, May 31

Mister Ex here with the latest roundup of our former Blue Jays. Spencer Horwitz dazzled the Pirates with a .370 clip, .438 on‑base percentage and a .630 slugging mark in seven games, while Gabriel Moreno’s .400 average and .667 slugging helped Arizona keep the offense humming. Marcus Semien, still a fan favorite from his 2021 stint, posted a .350 average and a lofty .700 slugging line, and Isiah Kiner‑Falefa’s .435 average and .565 slugging kept Boston’s second‑base brigade competitive. On the mound, Seranthony Domínguez turned in a flawless 0.00 ERA with a minuscule .33 WHIP for Chicago, and Anthony Kay delivered a tidy 1.64 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in two starts for the White Sox.

To date, Horwitz’s .857 OPS and Ty France’s .851 OPS have led the ex‑Jays’ hitters, while Chris Bassitt’s 1.50 ERA and .83 WHIP (mirrored by Eric Lauer) have been the most impressive among the former pitchers.

The news of Lauer’s trade to Los Angeles and his subsequent quality start was the headline of the week, and Teoscar Hernández’s left‑hamstring strain landed him on the Dodgers’ injured list, a blow to the club that still recalls his power from his 2022‑2024 Blue Jays days. Santiago Espinal, another former utility man, re‑signed with the Dodgers after a brief DFA, adding depth to a squad still nursing injuries.

Next week the Toronto club will travel to Truist Park to face the Braves, where they may encounter former left‑hander Joel Payamps, and then return home for a three‑game set against the Orioles, with the possibility of squaring off against ex‑Jay arms Chris Bassitt and Josh Walker.
